After relocating from New Jersey to Maui in 2019 with her husband and two adult sons, Denise quickly became actively engaged in the Upcountry Maui community. With the conception of Upcountry Strong in 2020, the entire Hartje family enthusiastically showed-up to volunteer at every food distribution event. In addition to her passion for philanthropy, Denise is also a master baker and cook, skills she learned from her Italian Grandmother. Denise can often be found in the kitchen, cooking-up some love to share with others. Yvonne Lang
COORDINATOR
Yvonne spent a large portion of her life in Switzerland where she worked in communication and marketing for international corporations. After meeting her husband, who grew up in Hawai’I, they started taking frequent trips to Maui. In 2017 after their older daughter flew the coop, they decided to raise their two younger boys on Maui. It was always clear to them that Upcountry was going to be where they will set up their new home. Yvonne worked for a local artist and for an upcountry agricultural business before joining a global non-profit that helps with the relief efforts of the Maui wildfires. If she has any spare time from work and the build of their own home which the couple build themselves, she loves to engage with her community, be it through being a member of 100 Women wo care Maui or volunteering for organizations such as Upcountry Strong.
